What Time Will The DJ Arrive ?
Several factors affect what time your Stargazer DJ will arrive at the event.
Firstly, we want to create a favourable first impression and there is no better way to do this than by being early.
Secondly, the very last thing we want to do is to have to rush to get everything set up on time.
Thirdly, once everything is ready, it is nice to have time both for a 5 minute ”breather” and to get changed so we are smartly presented for the occasion.
From when the boxes of equipment are on the floor by where the disco is to be set up to the moment the DJ is ready is a fairly fixed time. On average it is around 20-25 minutes. It could be slightly more or slightly less depending on the size of the hall and the amount of equipment required.
The main factor that determines what time we will arrive is our estimate of how long it will take to carry or trolley the gear from our van to the set-up point. As you can imagine, this varies enormously from one job to the next.
At some point in the booking process, somebody from Stargazer will ask a series of questions about your venue. These will certainly include
What sort of venue is it ? House, hall, pub, hotel, marquee etc ?
Is it on the ground floor, upstairs on in a basement ?
If it is not on the ground floor, is there a lift ?
Approximately how many guests are attending ?
Is there a stage ?
What is the access and parking situation ?
The best way to avoid having to rush is to make sure that you have the full correct name, address, postcode and phone number for the venue and ask the above questions, well in advance.
Although a site visit is never necessary, the DJ will very often phone the venue and if appropriate, check their website for additional info.
He can then make a fully informed judgement of how long everything will take and time his arrival accordingly. We always err on the cautious side !
If a client asks us what time we will arrive, our stock reply is “no later than 45 minutes prior to the start.” However, rest assured that if our research tells us that it is necessary to arrive earlier, we will certainly do so.
We can (and do) bring extra, experienced staff, at no cost to the client, if circumstances demand it.
